Our space team visits the European Agency on a regular basis. ESA has sites in several European countries, but the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, is the largest.
A real visit highlight, pictured below, one of the projects QinetiQ had delivered in the past: The Foton space craft. The Foton is a Tussian-made un-crewed capsule that was used to fly experiments to Earths orbit for a certain period of time before returning to Earth.
The capsule below is the Foton 12, laauched into space September 1999. It carried one instrument made by QinetiQ: FluidPac (Fluid Physics Facility).
Eventually there were more experiments onboard Futon capsules. The Foton M3 mission was launched into space September 2007 and carried with it 400kg of European instruments. Three of which were instruments built by QinetiQ.
